Zambia’s government has signed a landmark contract to build five new Level-One hospitals and 127 health centers across the country. This significant move aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and service delivery, aligning with the government’s broader strategy to close the health infrastructure gap by 2030.
Minister of Health, Dr. Jonas Chanda, announced the development, highlighting its importance in improving health outcomes for Zambians. The new facilities are set to address regional disparities in healthcare access, bringing essential services closer to communities.
The construction of these hospitals and health centers is part of an ongoing commitment to upgrade Zambia’s health infrastructure, ensuring that quality care is more accessible to the population. This initiative builds on previous efforts, including the recent upgrades of clinics to Level-One hospitals in Lusaka District.
Dr. Chanda emphasized that these developments will reduce the burden on higher-level hospitals and provide comprehensive care at the community level. The expansion project will not only improve the quality of healthcare services but also create job opportunities and support local economies.
The government, in collaboration with corporate partners and stakeholders, is focused on delivering these projects efficiently to meet the growing healthcare needs of Zambia’s population.
