Ukrainian Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Russian Oil Refinery

A fire broke out at a unit of the Afipsky oil refinery in southern Russia’s Krasnodar region following a drone attack attributed to Ukraine, local authorities reported on Thursday.
The extent of the damage at the facility remains unclear, as emergency crews continue to assess the situation. The refinery is one of the region’s key oil processing sites, handling significant volumes of crude oil annually.
According to industry sources, the Afipsky refinery  in conjunction with the nearby Krasnodar refinery  processed approximately 7.2 million metric tons of crude oil in 2024 and 3 million tons in the first half of 2025.
This incident adds to a growing list of attacks on Russian energy infrastructure amid ongoing hostilities between Moscow and Kyiv. Ukrainian drone operations targeting logistical and energy assets inside Russian territory have intensified in recent months, aiming to disrupt military supply chains and economic capabilities.
Local officials have not yet provided details on casualties or the timeline for restoring operations at the plant.
