At a rally in Atlanta on September 24, U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized America’s involvement in the Ukraine war, asserting that the country is “stuck” and can only “get out” if he wins the election. He blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for initiating the conflict, vowing to “settle the war in Ukraine” if elected.
Trump stated, “We’re stuck in that war unless I’m president. I’ll get it done. I’ll get it negotiated. I’ll get out. We gotta get out.” He also referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “the greatest salesman on Earth,” alleging that each of Zelensky’s trips to the U.S. results in substantial financial aid.
Trump’s potential return to the White House is raising concerns in Ukraine, especially considering the pro-Trump faction in the Republican Party previously stalled a U.S. aid bill in Congress, which negatively impacted the situation on the ground and contributed to the loss of the key city of Avdiivka.
