In a heated debate on Tuesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris accused former President Donald Trump of being linked to Project 2025, a 922-page policy playbook crafted by the Heritage Foundation. The document, intended to guide future conservative administrations, includes proposals authored by numerous former Trump administration officials.
Trump vehemently denied any involvement with Project 2025, asserting that he has “nothing to do with it” and has deliberately avoided reading it. Despite the project’s connections to former cabinet secretaries and West Wing aides from his presidency, Trump described it as the work of a “group of people that got together,” emphasizing that he has no direct engagement with the plan.
During the debate, Trump maintained, “I have nothing to do with Project 2025. I have not read it. I don’t want to read it, purposely. I’m not going to read it.” He dismissed the plan as a collection of ideas from others, noting, “It makes no difference. I have nothing to do. Everybody knows I’m an open book.”
The Harris campaign has made Project 2025 a focal point of their strategy, highlighting its controversial proposals in an attempt to undermine Trump’s credibility. With the plan’s proposals being widely criticized, Trump’s repeated disavowal reflects his effort to distance himself from the project’s unpopularity.
