President Cyril Ramaphosa has shared an optimistic outlook for South Africa’s economy, stating that it is “slowly but steadily improving.” In his New Year message, Ramaphosa highlighted the positive results of the far-reaching economic reforms implemented during the sixth administration.
He pointed out that more South Africans are finding jobs as the economy recovers, and inflation has been falling, making essential goods more affordable for households. Furthermore, South Africa achieved its first primary budget surplus in 15 years, and public sector investment has continued to rise for the second consecutive year.
While acknowledging the progress made in 2024, Ramaphosa stressed that significant challenges remain. He emphasized the need for continued government action with urgency and purpose to create an inclusive economy and generate more employment opportunities.
Ramaphosa’s message conveys hope for the future, with a strong focus on overcoming the obstacles that still confront the nation in the coming year.
