Russia Warns NATO and EU of ‘Decisive Response’ to Any Aggression

Russia has issued a warning to NATO and the European Union, stating that “any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response,” according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine, tensions have risen along NATO’s eastern borders recently. Estonia has accused Russia of sending three fighter jets into its airspace, while NATO forces have downed Russian drones over Poland.

“Russia is being accused of almost planning to attack the North Atlantic Alliance and European Union countries. President Putin has repeatedly debunked these provocations,”

Lavrov said during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed support for shooting down Russian aircraft that violate NATO airspace, marking a shift in his rhetoric that also included mocking Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine and describing it as a “paper tiger.” The United States also pledged to “defend every inch of NATO territory” at the U.N. Security Council.
Lavrov, who has served as Russia’s foreign minister for over 20 years, expressed concern about statements from certain politicians in EU and NATO capitals suggesting that a third world war is a “likely scenario.”

“These figures are undermining any efforts to find a fair balance of interests among all of the members of the international community by trying to impose their unilateral approaches on everyone else,” he added.

Lavrov held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday during the United Nations General Assembly gathering of world leaders.
