Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made a direct appeal to the Lebanese people, urging them not to allow Hezbollah to jeopardize their country amid extensive airstrikes by Israeli forces.
“I have a message for the people of Lebanon: Israel’s war is not with you. It’s with Hezbollah,” he stated, emphasizing that the militant group has long used civilians as human shields. Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of hiding rockets intended for Israeli cities within residential areas, asserting that Israel must neutralize these threats to protect its citizens.
He reiterated calls from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for Lebanese civilians to seek safety, urging them to take these warnings seriously. “Don’t let Hezbollah endanger your lives and the lives of your loved ones. Please, get out of harm’s way now,” he said, assuring that they could return home once the military operation concluded.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 270 fatalities and more than 1,000 injuries in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
