The accused are alleged to have falsified their visa applications by stating they were traveling to South Africa for security training. However, they were recently discovered participating in military training at a farm near White River, close to Masoyi.
Currently, ninety-one of the accused are being held in a correctional facility, while the remaining four are in police custody.
Monica Nyuswa, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority, stated, “The accused face charges of misrepresentation on their visa applications. They originally claimed they were coming to South Africa for educational purposes, but instead were found engaged in military training.”
Nyuswa further noted, “The court determined that the accused should remain in custody due to their lack of fixed addresses. The state will oppose bail for the accused.”
