On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the Democrats’ ceremonial nomination for president from a watch party at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, nearly 100 miles away from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Harris, 59, addressed her supporters shortly after the Democratic delegates completed the symbolic roll-call vote. Standing alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are so honored to be your nominees.”
The initial moments of Harris’s acceptance speech were livestreamed at the United Center in Chicago, the site of the DNC. Additionally, prime-time speeches from the convention will also be broadcast live at the Milwaukee arena, connecting the two locations and engaging a wider audience.
