Ethiopian Airlines achieved $7 billion in revenue for the 2023/24 financial year, up from $6.1 billion the previous year, according to the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC). This growth was driven by a 23% increase in passenger numbers, with the airline carrying 17.1 million passengers.
At a press conference, Chief Executive Mesfin Tasew announced that the airline aims to carry 20 million passengers in the current financial year, which began in July. The airline plans to add five new routes and has ordered 125 additional planes, though further details on the aircraft were not disclosed.
In May, Mesfin projected a 30% increase in passenger numbers for the 2023/24 year, supported by new routes and a recovery in global travel.
