Apple announced that they will partner with OpenAI to fully integrate OpenAI into the new version of IOS 18. Perhaps the most existential danger of AI lies in its potential to surpass human intelligence. A superintelligent AI or a god-bot could outperform humans in every intellectual domain, leading to dire consequences for society and the very existence of human beings.
Couple this with the known issue of Big Tech Corporations collecting very personal data on users of their products and services. Google over the years has collected children’s voice data, leaked carpool users’ trips and home addresses, and made YouTube recommendations based on deleted watch history, among thousands of other privacy incidents. Also, Apple devices possess the ability to scan an object or even an entire room.
Given their history of recording the conversations of users, saving and reading users push notifications and willingly giving it away to government agencies, there’s no telling just how much more they could record with the ability to scan and recreate an entire room.
