Trump Holds Policy Meeting on Gaza with Tony Blair and Jared Kushner

President Donald Trump led a meeting on Wednesday focused on policy related to the conflict in Gaza, with contributions from former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Jared Kushner, who previously served as Trump’s Middle East envoy, according to a senior White House official.
The discussion involved Trump, senior White House staff, Blair, and Kushner addressing various aspects of the Gaza situation, including increasing food aid shipments, handling the hostage crisis, planning for the post-conflict period, and other related issues.
The official characterised the gathering as a routine policy session, similar to others regularly held by Trump and his team.
Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, played a significant advisory role on Middle East matters during Trump’s first term. Blair, known for his tenure during the 2003 Iraq conflict, has also been engaged in Middle East affairs.
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff spoke about the meeting ahead of time on a Fox News program, describing the plan being developed for Gaza as thorough and well-intentioned, reflecting Trump’s humanitarian goals.
During his last presidential campaign, Trump pledged a swift resolution to the Gaza conflict, but after seven months into his second term, peace remains elusive. His term began with a ceasefire lasting two months, which ended following Israeli strikes in mid-March that resulted in the deaths of around 400 Palestinians. Recent images showing malnourished Palestinians, including children, have drawn global attention and criticism of Israel amid worsening conditions.

“President Trump has been clear that he wants the war to end, and he wants peace and prosperity for everyone in the region. The White House has nothing additional to share on the meeting at this time,” a second White House official said.
