The Intersection of Global Politics and Press Freedom

A long standing Infowars reporter, by the name Jamie White, was brutally murdered recently outside of his home in Austin, Texas. While this may easily pass as a narrow focus in the US, with little implication beyond local crime, it actually appears to be a case with a great deal of implications. First, Jamie was not only a reporter, but he was a reporter who focused heavily on the Ukraine war, and was even placed on an enemy list of people perceived to be hostile to Ukraine and the US’s relations with it. Furthermore, Jaime White lived in an area where George Soros’ influence on district attorney’s was not minimal and we ought to address this further.
CONTEXT: THE TARGETING OF JOURNALISTS WHO REPORT ON WARS
And now onto our main discussion on the intersection between global politics and press freedom, and we ought to start with some context, focusing on the targeting of journalists who report on wars. First, there is a long historical context of journalists who have been killed or abducted in the battlefield. The number of journalists killed in the world in 2003 – which was 42 – was the highest since 1995. This figure can be largely explained by the military campaign in Iraq, which inflicted a proportionally higher number of casualties on journalists than on members of the coalition’s armed forces: 14 journalists and media personnel lost their lives, two went missing and a dozen or so were wounded while covering the conflict and its aftermath.
There was also a general trend towards the deterioration of the working conditions of journalists in periods of armed conflict. “…Covering a war becoming more and more dangerous for journalists. Added to the traditional dangers of war are the unpredictable hazards of bomb attacks, the use of more sophisticated weapons against which even the training and protection of journalists is ineffective – and belligerents who care more about winning the war of images than respecting the safety of media staff. There were numerous factors that increased the risks of war reporting.
But, despite all of this, the illegality of attacks on journalists and news media derives is categorically clear; and we can see this from the protection granted to civilians and civilian objects under international humanitarian law, and from the fact that the media, even when used for propaganda purposes, cannot be considered as military objectives except in special cases. In other words, while no specific status exists for journalists and the equipment they use, both journalists and their equipment benefit from the general protection enjoyed by civilians and civilian objects unless they make an effective contribution to military action. And yet, we still see incidents like the leaked footage from Wikileaks (that got Julian Assange labelled a terrorist), where the leaked video shows the Americans opening fire and murdering Reuters journalist Saeed Chmagh and his entire crew in Baghdad on July 12, 2007.
TODAY, EVEN JOURNALISTS NOT IN THE BATTLE FIELD ARE BEING TARGETED
Well, based on recent developments, it is not only journalists who are in the actual battlefield who are in danger. In the status quo, journalists are either coerced to propagate a state sanctioned message or face retaliation from the state. You’d recall for instance, that we discussed that Zelensky has launched a war against press freedoms in Ukraine. Journalists and media groups have come under intense pressure from the Kiev regime, including spying and other forms of persecution during the conflict in Ukraine. Journalists have even been presented with draft notices after exposing media restrictions imposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government.
Essentially, this means that Zelensky nationalised the country’s media, among other authoritarian measures such as banning opposition parties. Ukrainian journalists mostly went along with the wartime restrictive measures that entailed prohibiting, among other things, the publication of locations where Russian missile strikes have taken place, accounts of military casualties, and reports on Ukrainian troop movements or positions.
Self-censorship has also become common, as journalists have ended up “holding back on critical coverage of the government to avoid undermining morale or to prevent reports of corruption from dissuading foreign partners from approving aid.” In addition to whitewashing the failures of Ukraine’s war, which it is fighting as a proxy for NATO, analysts say the pressure is “aimed at crimping positive coverage of the opposition and suppressing negative coverage of the government and the military.” Journalists were furnished with a list from their higher-ups, telling them which local elected officials and opposition figures were “undesirable” and thus should not be quoted in articles.
You’d recall that we also discussed that there was also media suppression that occurred in the Chernihiv region, where a local city council was disputing municipal spending with a governor that Zelensky appointed. The state news agency guided its reporters to not quote a council member, the acting mayor, because he was deemed an “undesirable.” Furthermore, in 2023, Ukraine passed a law giving Zelensky’s government direct authority to shut down media outlets that it deems unacceptable, bypassing any need for a court ruling. ALL of this is evidence of an autocratic regime.
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN JAIME WHITE AND THE UKRAINE PROXY WAR
Well, it appears that this problem of limitations on press freedoms are not exclusive to journalists in Ukraine, because Jamie White, the InfoWars reporter who was murdered, not only covered the proxy war in Ukraine, but posted on X on the 12th of June, in the year 2024, that he found out that he was on the Ukrainian ‘Enemies List’ due to his reporting work on the Ukraine proxy war. In addition, the group that is said to have compiled this so-called ‘Enemies List’ is tied to the US State Dept, USAID, CIA and George Soros.
With this in mind, and considering the fact that the present report from law enforcement says that Jaime White was killed by car burglars – here is why I think this connection between Jaime White and the Ukraine proxy is important to consider in light of his unacceptable murder. First, if he reported in June 2024 (which is before the second Trump administration and DOGE) that the so-called ‘Enemies List’ he was put on is tied to the US State Dept, USAID, CIA and George Soros – then this should immediately raise alarms, as being one of the clandestine operations that USAID financed that resulted in the deaths of innocent people or oven specific figures of interest. I say this, because we now know that USAID (which is a CIA front) even funded terrorist organisations.
The second reason why this link between Jaime White and the Ukraine proxy war is important is because we now know that USAID funded operations in Ukraine; and those operations were not exclusively tied to financing what was (itself) an unjust war. Rather, these operations even include the coup in Ukraine in 2014, and even the killing of political opponents and persons of interests in and outside of Ukraine. All of this to say, that the US military industrial complex, has a vested interest in the proxy war in Ukraine, not only as a means for profit, but also as a tool of shaping geopolitics in Europe through NATO.
Then finally, this link between the murder of Jaime White and the Ukraine proxy war must not be dismissed because Zelensky has already murdered an American journalist who was reporting the truth about Ukraine. Gonzalo Lira was killed in prison and denied representation, all while the US State Department under the Biden-Harris administration was not interested in protecting his inalienable rights as an American citizen. Here’s more on Gonzalo Lira’s case.
PROGRESSIVE DISTRICT ATTORNEY JOSÉ GARZA IS ALSO CULPABLE
Once again, we are discussing this connection between Jaime White and the Ukraine proxy war because Austin, Texas Police say that journalist Jamie White Was Killed By Car Burglars. And based on what we have discussed, it appears less like a mere car burglary. However, let’s address the car burglary report – because it does not pacify things at all. And in particular, if Jaime White was killed in a car burglary, it is because progressive pro-crime District Attorney’s, like Travis County’s Jose Garza receive 6-figure tax payer funded private security while his constituents, such as Jamie White are ruthlessly murdered out on the streets. This is to say, that crime has been on the rise in areas where the DA has a progressive approach towards crime – which has been a pattern with attorneys like Kamala Harris and Jose Garza himself.
Why the car burglary report also points to a possibly coordinated murder is because progressive DAs and judges are often funded and backed by George Sorors, who has had a vested interests in the deterioration of the moral fabric of various nations, including the US.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE PEACEFUL NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN THE US AND UKRAINE?
Now, in preparing for this discussion, I was certainly aware of the peaceful negotiations between president Trump’s team and the Ukrainian government, following the fallout that took place in previous weeks. And so, it is worth addressing what the death of Jaime White and its notable ties to Ukraine could mean.
But, first, for some context on the recent peaceful negotiations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the 11th of March that Ukraine had accepted a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States, following critical peace talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia. The ceasefire proposal accepted by Ukraine covers the entire front line of the fighting with Russia, not just the air and sea, Zelensky said after the more than eight-hour long meeting.
Furthermore, the United States said in a joint statement with Ukraine following the meeting in Jeddah that it would “immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.” A Ukrainian official also confirmed on Tuesday that US security assistance to Ukraine had resumed. In addition, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said immediately after the meeting that the onus was now on Russia to take steps to end the war. Here’s more on the ceasefire talks.
This is essentially because it reflects the ceasefire negotiations, potentially in the absence of consideration that the Ukrainian government may have a role i nthe death of a US citizen. This would obviously undermine progress towards a peaceful resolution of the war.
One might ask if there is a body that would wish to undermine the peaceful resolution of the proxy war and the answer is yes. The body ranges from the military industrial complex in the US to NATO as a whole. Remember, this is all a proxy war that has long been premeditated, through NATO.
