Iran and Cuba Stand United Against ‘Hostile’ U.S. Policies

Iran and Cuba have expressed strong mutual support in addressing what they describe as hostile U.S. policies and sanctions. This affirmation came during a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi condemned the U.S. decision to place Cuba on the list of so-called state sponsors of terrorism, a designation that also includes Iran, North Korea, and Syria. He characterized this move as part of Washington’s ongoing “hostile” policies.
Araghchi expressed Iran’s solidarity with the Cuban people, emphasizing that, as a fellow victim of U.S. sanctions, Iran understands Cuba’s struggles and stands ready to offer support against the embargoes.
In turn, the Cuban foreign minister reiterated his country’s commitment to backing Iran in the face of U.S. aggression.
Both nations, long under U.S. sanctions, have been working to enhance cooperation and find ways to counter the impact of these embargoes for years. Their alliance underscores a shared commitment to resist external pressures and promote their respective sovereignty.
