“Three Israelis Killed in Shooting at West Bank-Jordan Crossing”

Three Israeli men have been killed in a shooting at the Allenby Bridge crossing between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli officials. The attacker, identified as Jordanian Maher Jazi by the Israeli military, approached the crossing in a truck, exited the vehicle, and opened fire. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by killing the gunman and inspecting the truck for explosives.
Jordan is currently investigating the incident, which occurred in an Israeli-controlled area where Jordanian vehicles deliver goods to the West Bank. Following the attack, the border crossing has been shut from both sides.
The victims, named as Yohanan Shchori, 61, Yuri Birnbaum, 65, and Adrian Marcelo Podzamczer (age not specified), were reportedly security guards at the crossing but were not military or police personnel. According to Israeli media, Jazi was a 39-year-old truck driver.
Footage from the scene shows the attacker walking into the terminal and firing his weapon before being neutralized. In response, at least two dozen Jordanian truck drivers in the offloading area have been detained by Israeli military forces for questioning.
The incident has led to the closure of all land crossings between Israel and Jordan, according to the Israel Airports Authority. The Allenby Bridge, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is a key crossing point, situated roughly halfway between Amman and Jerusalem. It is the sole entry point to the West Bank that does not pass through Israeli territory.
While Jordan and Israel maintain diplomatic, security, and trade relations, Jordan has been critical of Israeli policies towards Palestinians. The Allenby Bridge serves as a vital conduit for the daily movement of goods between Jordan, the West Bank, and Israel.
