Malema Compares Shivambu’s Departure to Personal Loss, Open to Future Return
Julius Malema has expressed deep personal sorrow over Floyd Shivambu’s resignation from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), comparing it to the grief he felt upon the death of his mother. Malema described Shivambu as more than a political ally, highlighting their close bond since they co-founded the party in 2013.
“When he sent me a letter yesterday, I felt the same pain as when I received the news of my mother’s passing,” Malema said. “Floyd to me is not just a comrade; he is a brother. He will remain a brother, even as he pursues his political career elsewhere.”
Malema confirmed that while the EFF’s constitution prohibits re-entry of former members, he would welcome Shivambu back should he choose to return in the future. Malema stated he has accepted Shivambu’s resignation, reflecting both personal and political dimensions of the departure.
