Kenyan government distributes food aid to people displaced by floods

The flooding situation in Kenya persists unabated as the rains persist, with the death toll now exceeding 200. Officials report that 164 people are currently missing, while 42,526 households have been displaced, impacting over 210,000 individuals.
The Interior Ministry has initiated the establishment of camps in various parts of the country to accommodate those affected by the flooding.
In Kisumu county, situated near Lake Victoria, some of the displaced individuals have begun receiving food aid.
Mercelyne Atieno Anyanga, an elderly widow forced out of her home by the flooding, expresses the dire situation, stating, “We are suffering from this lake, the lake water is wreaking havoc on us down here. When I survey the surroundings, I am left speechless.”
