Argentina’s President Javier Milei stated that discussions over potential financial support from the United States may involve buying Argentine debt on the secondary market and a system for sharing profits.
Speaking in a local radio interview, Milei explained that talks with U.S. officials are still in progress and the aid package under consideration could be structured in three parts.
According to recent comments from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the United States is working on a possible $20 billion currency swap agreement with Argentina’s central bank and is prepared to assist the country as needed.
