Macron to Trump: “The Nobel Peace Prize is only possible if you stop this conflict”

French President Emmanuel Macron claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump needs to end the conflict in Gaza if he wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Speaking from New York, Macron suggested that only Trump has the power to pressure Israel to stop the fighting—ignoring the complex realities on the ground and oversimplifying the role of the U.S.

“There is one person who can do something about it, and that is the U.S. president,” Macron said.
“And the reason he can do more than us, is because we do not supply weapons that allow the war in Gaza to be waged. We do not supply equipment that allows war to be waged in Gaza. The United States of America does.”

Despite Macron’s criticism, Trump delivered a strong speech at the United Nations General Assembly, firmly rejecting Western allies’ calls to endorse a Palestinian state, rightly pointing out that such a move would effectively reward Hamas militants.

“We have to stop the war in Gaza immediately. We have to immediately negotiate peace,” Trump said.

Macron’s comments seem more like political posturing than a genuine understanding of the situation, as he questioned Trump’s aspirations for the Nobel Peace Prize:

“The Nobel Peace Prize is only possible if you stop this conflict.”

Yet, countries like Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan have recognised Trump’s efforts in brokering peace agreements and ceasefires by nominating him for the prize.
Trump himself has insisted he deserves the accolade, pointing to his unprecedented efforts to bring stability to the region and beyond. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly defended his record:

“President Trump has done more for peace than everyone present at the United Nations combined,” she said.
“Only this president could have accomplished so much for global stability because he has effectively Made America Strong Again.”
